Default Buying Web Hosting Clients

We actually just bought 17 web hosting clients - now, what is the protocol. I mean, do we pay and they switch the DNS? I do want to move the clients files without causing any problems to them.

Anyone done this before?

Well I have never done this before but I think you just need to transfer all the files to your server then let them change the DNS. I saw some companies which move websites

The tech side, I am not too worried about (I probably should be) but I think we will be able to handle that. I am just trying to figure out - how do we know this guy is for real, i.e. he has the clients, he wants to sell them, etc. he does want to be paid by Paypal, so I guess if anything does happen, we can always submit to Paypal that there was a problem

I doubt we will have any problems. My business partner is working on the acquisition papers now and it seems that he will actually give me TS into the server once it is done so that I can easily grab everything.

Just before transfer you should insure that the sellers must be reliable,Some time it may happen that the sellers try to take back the sold clients after making his new site, might be possibility that the client can revert back to formal one.

Well that can happen but I don't think any client that is sold to you will get back to him as they don't want a such company because it puts their business in danger.

I think that the chance of the customers to moving with formal one is might be possible only when the service and support of the new hosting providers is lower than formal one.

Otherwise as you said normally people don't want to put their business in danger is extermly correct.

Yes . You just need to offer a lot better services than the old company and that will help you a lot and make them very happy.

And I am hoping that we are going to be doing that. We have quite a few ASP components installed on the server plus we have a lot of scripts as well.

So far it seems to be going well and he is actually going to give me TS into the server once this is done for easy transfer since all the clients that are on it are being sold to us

Whatever you do, communicate with these new members every step of the way. Good communication will be the key factor in completing this transfer smoothly.
