Just like anything in life, you get what you pay for.

I choose to pay for my hosting.

Free hosting can be nice, depending on what you are useing it for. If it is for a business, paid is the best way to go.

Like everyone has said, you get what you pay for.

With paid services you get more support. Also when there is an outage customer service is much quicker.

I have a number of domains hosted with - would I call it a free or paid account?

I found a couple of hosting companies - you regi$ter your domain thru them (so they make the commission for registration) and they will host my sites for free as long I keep renewing the registration with them. (doteasy in Canada and mister.net in US)

The "free" accounts are somewhat limited (100 MB of space, 1 GB traffic) but that is plenty to get started with. If I have a site that becomes extraordinarily popular, they have upgrade plans I can pay extra for.

This arrangement works out well for me right now. Your mileage may vary.

I think that the paid hosting always is more reliable and stable. In case of problems we can go to them with claims, as we pay money we have on this right. And as to a free hosting I personally don't trust with them, and I advise nobody to address to them)

In conclusion...

Free is just for non-commercial or personal website and also for those who just started
(Short run)

Paid is when those who want to excel and earn money from the website. Security, uptime guarantee, speed are so important to them (long run)

May be you are right, but on mine each person tries to earn money on it and it is necessary to address in a paid hosting, But some people think that can earn also money by means of a free hosting, both here it to me and is not clear. They do not think of that when they addressing in a free hosting they spend more and time and nerves)

I don't understand what we can be reached by means of a free hosting.
When we address in the company of a hosting all of us try to construct the business and to earn money (And I do not think that with it we can be helped by a free hosting)

No matter how good a free web hosting service is, I'll always go for paid hosting. I gives better options and ample of freedom to make changes according to my requirements. Not possible in free web hosting.
