One of the fastest servers I've ever seen is the following:

Dual Opteron 2.4 GHz

72 GB 10k SCSI
2000GB Tier1 BW
4GB RAM
cPanel/WHM/Fantastico

Seriously, this was a great server. If only it wasn't $399 a month...

Celerons are absolutely NOT server processors. I would never, ever, ever buy a Celeron for a server processor. They weren't designed for it. They have extremely low cache and FSB. You're better off with an Athlon XP or a Pentium 4. I'd even go with a Pentium III before a Celeron...

Yes, that is an amazing server. The ram is what makes it tick

I would never consider using a celeron - I hate them :P

I like dual xeon's - planning to get one at the planet

Never heard of Opteron. I guess I'll need to research that

The fastest thing I have ever seen was a quad xeon MP 2.8Ghz with 24GB of ram and over 2TB of local storage.
